About the Course
In the late 1930’s, local farmer Hugh P. Griffin Sr. was looking to join the local Country Club Pennrose. After being turned down by the membership committee, he took matters into his own hands. With the aid of his son, Hugh Jr, other local farmers, and mule power, Monroeton Golf Club was born. Opening in 1939, the course was originally a nine-hole course with sand-clay greens, open to the public and charging a mere 25 cents per round.
Over the years continual improvements were made with an additional nine being built and the greens being upgraded to bent grass. Last year the course completed a major renovation with rebuilding the greens complexes and converting to 007 Bent grass on the green surfaces. This course offers versatile playability allowing beginners and pros alike to enjoy all it has to offer. We are excited for the future of the Club and encourage everyone to come out and experience Monroeton.
